Breann Birkenbuel

I’ve always been drawn to stories — the feeling a photograph can give you, the nostalgia of an old magazine, the way certain visuals can instantly transport you somewhere else.

By day, I work in visual storytelling and editorial production at National Geographic, helping bring stories to life through photography, creative direction, and visual strategy. But honestly, the heart of what I do has always been about connection.

I’m also a mom of three, a runner, a creative thinker, and someone who romanticizes little things like film photos, airport bookstores, oversized vintage tees, road trips, and sunlight hitting a room just right. Most days are a mix of creative ideas, chaos, coffee, deadlines, and trying to make something meaningful in the middle of all of it.

This space is a collection of the work and stories that inspire me — thoughtful visuals, human moments, and the kind of storytelling that feels real.

Expertise: storytelling, photo curation, archival research, print shop galleries, and photo contest judging.
